Artist in focus • Nino Ananiashvili (ნინო ანანიაშვილი) is celebrated for the rare combination of technical precision, emotional depth, and individuality she brings to the stage. Throughout her international career, she has performed with leading ballet companies and on some of the world’s most prestigious stages, leaving a distinctive mark on audiences and the art form itself. As Artistic Director of the State Ballet of Georgia, Ananiashvili brings that experience back to her home country. Her work reflects both a deep respect for Georgia’s rich ballet heritage and a vision for its continued artistic development, connecting tradition with new creative perspectives.
Founded in 2019, TBILISI PIANO FEST (თბილისი პიანო ფესტი) has well established itself as the annual celebration of renowned pianists and rising stars, gathering in the capital of Georgia. Over the course of evenings residents and visitors to the Georgian capital were able to enjoy open-air performances by world-class pianists. The festival’s expanded program also featured young Georgian pianists—winners and laureates of international competitions in recent years.
80 Years of Triumph — is the name of the exhibition dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Sukhishvili Georgian National Ballet. The exhibition, held at MoMA Tbilisi, features historical photographs and stage costumes of the ensemble
The Adishi Gospel is the earliest aesthetically embellished manuscript to have survived. It reveals links to antique art as well as to Eastern Christianity. The number of books began to grow in the eighth and ninth centuries, with the Gospels taking the lead among these manuscripts. The Georgian-language church heritage is unique because it is a literary culture that was created in Georgian language. The Gospels are the most abundant monuments among existing manuscripts.
A New Year’s gala concert was held in Tbilisi Opera and Ballet Theater with participation of theater soloists, ballet troupe, choir and orchestra. Fragments from opera and ballet masterpieces were performed.
TBILISI PIANO FEST 2022 - Tbilisi hosted the Third TBILISI PIANO FEST. The idea of the festival is to bring together each year the world's leading musicians and pedagogues. Talented young pianists are given the opportunity to take part in interactive musical events and master classes, and to acquire an exceptional musical experience. Guests this year were pianists from New York, Paris, Zurich, Madrid, Vienna and Berlin, as well as the Georgian pianists Edisher Savitski, Sandro Gegechkori and Irma Gigani. The renowned Ukrainian-born pianist Konstantin Lifschitz also took part in the festival. The festival was held at different venues: the Tbilisi State Conservatoire, the Parliamentary Library, and master classes took place at the National Palace. For the final two days of the event, open air concerts were held on Orbeliani Square, which were led by the founder and artistic director of the PIANO FEST Dudana Mazmanishvili, together with the Georgian National Symphony Orchestra, French-Cypriot virtuoso pianist Cyprien Katsaris, and the world-famous German conductor Moritz Gnan.
“QARABSHA” is a new project from the Georgian National Ballet Sukhishvilebi. Based on Georgian folk dance movements, “QARABSHA” expresses inner freedom and ethnic elements. The word “QARABSHA” means the state of being in a trance. The performance comprises three programs: NABIJI (step), QARABSHA, and TRANSFORMATION. The host of the event is Republic event hall
Composer Alexandre Kordzaia, jazz pianist Beka Gochiashvili, violist Giorgi Zagareli and hip-hop artist Dro (Sandro Popkhadze) got together with the idea of manifesting music that has no boundaries or genre definitions. This is the concept of the musical project: music provides the opportunity to discover new forms and express the value of freedom, even when the music is old and part of mass-culture, or even contemporary and experimental. The concert was dedicated to Ukraine. Half of the money received from the concert was donated to the Ukrainian Relief Fund / MONO HALL hosted the project
Music that pushes existing boundaries and genre definitions. The idea is to present the audience diverse musical compositions from different genres. From 8th till 19th of September historical Tsinandali Estate in Kakheti will be welcoming legendary musicians, conductors, and virtuoso soloists from around the world. Besides the obstacles caused by the new reality, Tsinandali Festival managed to prepare a fantastic program for the 3rd edition. Classical music celebration will be a reminder that art and culture have no boundaries.
Djansug Kakhidze Tbilisi Center for Music and Culture will be presenting “Requiem” by renowned Georgian composer and conductor Vakhtang Kakhidze. The work is dedicated to the memory of his parents.
Sukhishvilebi - Georgian National Ballet was founded by Iliko Sukhishvili and Nino Ramishvili in 1945. Throughout its history the Georgian National Ballet has appeared at The Metropolitan Opera, Madison Square Garden, La Scala and Albert Hall among others.
