NATELA
IANKOSHVILI

Natela Iankoshvili (ნათელა იანქოშვილი. 1918-2008) is one of the outstanding artists of the 20th century.

In 1937-1943 Natela Iankoshvili studied in Tbilisi State Academy of Art.

Her first solo exhibition was held at the National Gallery of Art in 1960. 

In 1961, Iankoshvili traveled to Cuba and Mexico and created sketches everywhere she went. After her travels, she published a book ‘Journey to the Heroic Island,’  with 40 illustrations depicting her impressions of the trip. 

In addition to painting, Natela Iankoshvili worked as graphic artist and illustrator. In 1966, she made 18 pictures for the Japanese version of Shota Rustaveli's ‘The Knight in the Panther's Skin’.
