Dimitri Shevardnadze (დიმიტრი შევარდნაძე. 1885-1937) was a renowned public figure and artist, who had dedicated his life to the development of Georgian culture.
Shevardnadze worked as painter, graphic designer, stage and set designer.
Dimitri Shevardnadze was the founder of the Society of Georgian Artists, the initiator and first director of the National Art Gallery, and the first director at State Art Museum, "Metekhi”.
Shevardnadze’s name is interwoven with the foundation of Niko Pirosmanashvili's museum collection and the popularization of his work. Dimitri Shevardnadze also served as Deputy Head of the Georgian Monuments Protection Committee.
